Dreaming the dream

Ghandi once said, "A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes."  I've recently read and heard others expand on this with the logic that thoughts become ideas, ideas become dreams and dreams, can be a very powerful thing if one has the courage to set it into motion. That got me thinking...
Can my thoughts be turned into dreams and do I really have the power to make it come true?
Well...

Martin Luther King had a dream and that dream was built from his and others who had a desire and thoughts of full freedom and equal rights.
Our Founding Fathers had a dream for a new nation, to be free from Britain. That dream was started with the dislike of being taxed by a country that was so far away and therefore new nothing of the people it was governing. Thomas Paine gathered these thoughts, turned them into ideas and then wrote them in pamphlets and the dream spread swiftly. It was the courage of George Washington that pushed that dream into a reality and with the help of others such as Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, the once small idea was now a reality. The United States of America was born and they were now a free people to govern themselves.A dream was built from the first thoughts of not wanting to being taxed anymore to the desire of full freedom to a Revolutionary War and now a free nation.
Hmmm...well then, why not? I've had many thoughts about my future. Some thoughts are becoming glimpses of a dream, but no more. I'm going to let them fully develop this time. I want to see them as if I'm living it. If I can feel it, breath it and taste it, I know I will fight for it until it too is a reality.
I'm going to make a Dream Board...sort of. It was an idea I got from a woman I admire, Chanelle Jones. She started one and I loved it.
Want to come along and dream with me? Ok, here goes...

I dream...
Of a home of my own.

No more apartments or renting.

It doesn't have to be anything fancy, however, since it's my dream that I'm going to build, I'm going to go all the way and put everything that I want. Someday, I will make it happen even if it means slowly adding things to the home to make it just right. :)

Steven and I love homes with mixed materials. A little bit of brick and stone with the wood. Columns, a beautiful large living room bay window and pretty landscaping would top it all off.

I don't want too big of a home, it would take FOREVER to clean. Something just right, with all of the rooms to fit our needs.
I dream...
Of a living room, elegant yet simple with a touch of charm and decorated in clean, soft colors. A place to gather as a family to bond, laugh and relax. Furnished in a traditional style with comfy chairs to snuggle on by the fireplace during a cold winters night. My Grand Piano neatly tucked away in a corner  with my music and violin, for when I'm needing to escape.

I dream...
Of  medium sized kitchen- large enough to move around and have room for all of my dishes, pots and pans, etc. but not so big that it takes me an hour to mop the whole floor. I love the contrasting colors in this photo. The french door is great to open for conversation while cooking or to close for when unexpected company comes and you have dirty dishes to hide. :)

Granite counter tops and a raised breakfast bar for the kids to "help" cook, sample the cooking and to sit where I can keep an eye on them while they do their homework while I cook or clean. A deep sink for the pile of dishes and a separate sink to wash the veggies and foods.
A small breakfast table in the kitchen area for small informal meals, homework, crafts, etc.

A small formal dinning room will peak out from the other side of a wall though an arched entrance into the kitchen.

I dream...
Of fresh bread and pizzas baked in my own brick oven that will be by my  2 convection ovens.

Of a large pantry for all my food storage, boxed food and for the canned goods I'm planning on doing. I also want a separate freezer for all of my frozen goods. My little freezer is way too small to fit our needs and makes it hard to buy goods on sale and freeze them.

I dream...
Of 4-5 bedrooms. Some of the boys' don't sleep at night and keep each other awake. We also need them to be kept in separate rooms during " autism meltdowns".

I dream...
Of a master bath with a garden tub. A large stained glass window will let in light while offering privacy. There will also be a separate shower with duel shower heads, a t.v. for movie watching and a stereo system set up for music. ...I may never come out!

I dream...
Of a backyard. One large enough for a chicken coup, garden, a place for the kids to run and play with the dogs and for Steven to have his little golfing green he talks about for practicing.

That's just the beginning of this dream... and it's nice to finally get started.
